Portman, Wenstrup endorse Vivek Ramaswamy for governor

COLUMBUS – Former U.S. Senator Rob Portman and former U.S. Congressman Brad Wenstrup, both respected statesmen and longtime Republican leaders, this week jointly announced their endorsement of Vivek Ramaswamy for governor of Ohio, releasing the following statements:

Rob Portman, Former U.S. Senator:

“I am pleased to join former Congressman Brad Wenstrup in endorsing Vivek Ramaswamy for Governor of Ohio. My endorsement comes after speaking to Vivek about his commitment to represent all Ohioans and his focus on creating more economic opportunity in Ohio, building on the accomplishments of Governor Mike DeWine, and Lt. Governors Jon Husted and Jim Tressel.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Vivek went to St. Xavier High School, where he played sports and was the valedictorian of his class. He then went on to become a successful entrepreneur, creating thousands of jobs. Vivek tells me he wants to use what he has learned in business to help all Ohioans succeed. He wants to attract more investment and good jobs by ensuring Ohio is a place where hard work and innovation is rewarded.

This message has unified the Ohio Republican Party, and also brought others into his coalition, including an impressive number of labor unions and trade associations from around the state.”

Brad Wenstrup, Former U.S. Congressman:

“Alongside former senator Rob Portman, I am proud to endorse Vivek Ramaswamy for Governor of Ohio. My connection with Vivek goes back several years, as we both attended Saint Xavier High School in our hometown of Cincinnati.

During his high school time and well beyond, Vivek distinguished himself through his achievements in both athletics and academics. Vivek's pursuit of higher education paved the way for his subsequent success in the business and science sectors. His professional accomplishments have been consistently complemented by his genuine concern for those around him, demonstrating a balance of ambition and compassion.

Ohio is not only Vivek's home, but also a place rich with opportunities. Vivek is dedicated to harnessing these opportunities to benefit all Ohioans. His impressive track record, coupled with his vision for the state, has brought together Republicans and so many from diverse educational and workforce backgrounds.

Building on the foundation laid by the DeWine/Husted/Tressel administration, Vivek Ramaswamy possesses the skills and leadership necessary to uplift all Ohioans. His commitment positions Ohio to lead in creating good jobs, supporting families, and realizing the American dream.”

These endorsements add even greater momentum to a movement that has already brought together Republican leaders across the state and country. President Trump, Vice President Vance, legislative leaders Rob McColley and Matt Huffman, U.S. Senators Bernie Moreno and Jon Husted, more than 70 legislators, 65 sheriffs, and key agricultural and labor groups have all joined forces in support of Ramaswamy’s campaign for governor.
