Paint Creek responds to printer fire at Kroger

On Wednesday at 9:28 a.m., the Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District’s Hillsboro station was dispatched to Kroger for the smell of something electrical burning and smoke filling an office.

Additional crews were called in from Paint Creek’s Rainsboro and Greenfield stations.

Upon arrival, crews found an office near the front of the store was filled with smoke. The store was evacuated at this time.

Upon investigation, crews were able to isolate the source of the smoke to a printer. The printer was removed from the store, and crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for extension.

With nothing else found, customers and staff were allowed to return to the store. All Paint Creek units cleared the scene and returned available.
