Trump is playing 3-D chess while everyone else is playing checkers

I used to think I had high standards. That was before Jan. 20, 2025. The rapidity of action and the high standards of the second Trump Administration takes my breath away.

Since he left office in 2021, Trump has not been spending his time on the beach. It is obvious he has gathered some smart folks around him, and they have been planning.

It would be impossible in one column to list all the things President Trump has started.

Here are a few:

• Unleashing American energy.

• Restoring freedom of speech and ending federal censorship.

• Regulatory freeze.

• Government hiring freeze.

• Withdrawing the United States from the World Health Organization.

• Declaring a national emergency at the southern border of the United States.

• And many, many more.

President Trump wants to spend the taxpayer’s money as if it were his own. He wants to put America first. He wants to protect America. Aren’t these things everyone wants?

Meanwhile, his opponents and distractors are screaming bloody murder. And while they are doing that, he’s moving on to the next issue.

Second week out, Trump has had two difficulties. The first was the cutting off of funds distribution. Although this was a stumble, I think it puts everyone on notice that nothing is off the table. We will see this issue again.

The second one was the plane crash at Washington National. Trump brought up DEI. Maybe not a good idea, but I get it. The government has been running on low performance standards for a long time.

Remember George Bush’s fiascos with FEMA? And the low standards go back further than that.

And while I am on Trump’s case for a minute, I’ll dump a little bit more. President Trump: Quit selling watches, sneakers and crypto. You are not a barker at a carnival. These things demean you and the office of president.

Otherwise, continue on…Make America Great Again.

And by the way, keep going for Greenland. We already used it as part of our defense system in the past. During World War II, we extended our sovereign offshore protection to 40 miles around Greenland via executive order from President Roosevelt. It is time to take a look at it again.

Trump couldn’t spell 3-D if you spotted him the 3. I am heartened however, to see that you at least acknowledged what you call “difficulties”. Most of his supporters won’t even go that far. But if we are making lists that are too long to thoroughly discuss, let’s include the list of laws, including clear violations of the Constitution, that he has broken along the way. You mentioned the funding fiasco but let’s not forget attempting to eradicate the 14th Amendment by fiat. A move that prompted the Reagan appointed federal judge that blocked it, to say that it was the “clearest violation of the Constitution he had ever seen in over 40 years on the bench”.
••••Publisher's note: Read the Constitution. Article I, Section 8, Clause 4 of the Constitution provides CONGRESS with the power To establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization throughout the United States. The Supreme Court has described naturalization as the act of adopting a foreigner, and clothing him with the privileges of a native citizen.
