Elsie Elizabeth Porter, 92, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 at the Crestwood Nursing Center of Hillsboro. She was united in marriage to Ned Porter on Feb. 27, 1937 at Limestone, Rowan County, Ky. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lucy Middleton; one brother, Tommy Middleton; spouse, Ned Porter, and one granddaughter, Valarie Ziegler. She was born Thursday, Feb. 1, 1917 in Carter County, Ky., the daughter of the late LaFayett Maddox and Carrie Mae Sparks Maddox. She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. Surviving are two children Carl L. Porter of West Jeffersonville and Elizabeth Suzanne (Fred) Emrie of Tucson, Ariz. Also surviving are: two sisters, Dora (Virgil) Gee, of Olive Hill, Ky., and Sara Jane (Gene) Brown, of Sun Lake, Ariz. Also surviving are: nine grandchildren, Tony Porter, of New Port Coast, Calif., Kevin (Tammy) Porter, of Tucson, Ariz., Angela (Ed) Soyring, of Benson, Ariz., Kathy (Brett) Sims, of Madison, Ala., Jeff (Shirley) Porter, of Reynoldsburg, Tina (Scott) Pizzuro, of Hilliard, Teresa Porter, of Bexley, Christopher (Karen) Porter, of Newark, and Brian (Natalie) Helm, of Tucson, Ariz., and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are special friends, Judy Dorman of Tucson, Ariz., and Carol Sue Colville of Hillsboro. Visitation was Sept. 15 at the Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Services were Sept. 15 at the Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Zile and the Rev. Curtis Randolph officiating. Interment followed in the Grayson Memorial Burial Park, in Grayson, Ky.
