    State Representative David Daniels has formally filed his petitions for candidacy for the 17th Senate District at the Ross County Board of Elections.  David is running to serve in the seat currently held by Senator John Carey (R-Wellston) who cannot run for re-election due to term limits.
  • Winter storm warning leads to school delays
    A winter storm warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, as a heavy band of snow, sleet and rain moves through the Ohio Valley. The forecast calls for 3 to 5 inches of snow for Highland County. Heavier amounts are predicted to the north and east.

  • Ohio Veterans homes fully comply with all VA standards
    The Ohio Department of Veterans Services Veterans' Homes in Sandusky and Georgetown are in full compliance with all 158 medical and other standards rated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  The VA's recently completed survey carefully examined the homes in Erie and Brown Counties for quality of medical care of the residents, patient rights, management practices and safety.

    Out-of-state activists have begun their efforts to undo Ohioans’ overwhelming passage of Issue 2. Less than three months after Ohioans approved Issue 2 to create the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board (OLCSB), lobbyists from Washington, D.C. have declared they know better than Ohio voters, according to John C. (Jack) Fisher, executive vice president of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF).
