Winter weather advisory for Highland County; several city streets snow-covered

Highland County is under a winter weather advisory Wednesday, as winter storm Euclid makes its way through the Buckeye State.
Parts of northwest Ohio are under a blizzard warning Wednesday.
The National Weather Service calls for a mix of rain, freezing rain and snow across much of Highland County today. Total accumulation amounts could range from 1 to 3 inches, the NWS said.
Snow accumulations could reach up to 10 inches in northwest Ohio.
Meanwhile, in advance of the storm that is moving into the area, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 have patrolling and pre-treating routes.
Kathleen Fuller, ODOT District 9 public information officer, said crews have been dispatched from the highway maintenance facilities in Adams, Brown, Highland, Jackson, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties, where the forecast calls for a mix of snow and freezing rain to strike before the early morning rush hours.
"Although ODOT crews will be treating and plowing according to the change in conditions, motorists may expect roadways to be lightly snow covered, and they are likely to be very slick and icy during the morning commute," Fuller said.
Early Wednesday evening, reports of area accidents could be heard on the local police and fire scanners. At approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday, a Hillsboro motorist lost control of his SUV on the John Street hill and crashed into a residence in the 300 block. The Hillsboro Police Department responded and no injuries were reported.
