Winter weather advisory in effect for Highland County

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Highland and surrounding counties throughout the day Friday, Jan. 17.

The forecast calls for snow showers, mainly before 4 p.m.

Temperatures will fall to around 22 by 5 p.m.

A total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is possible.

A few area schools were on delays Friday, including North Adams in the Adams County/Ohio Valley Schools, which was on a 90-minute delay, but subsequently closed Friday.

There's also a chance of snow showers Friday evening and again Saturday.

Friday's low will be around 12 degrees, with wind chill values as low as 0.

Extended forecast

Saturday – A chance of snow, mainly after 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 25. Wind chill values as low as zero. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday Night – Snow, mainly before 3 a.m. Low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Sunday – A slight chance of snow before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 32. West wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night – Partly cloudy, with a low around 25.

Martin Luther King Day – Partly sunny, with a high near 33.

Monday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17.

Tuesday – A chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 19. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6.

Wednesday – Partly sunny, with a high near 15.

Wednesday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6.

Thursday – Partly sunny, with a high near 19.
