Wilmington man arrested in Hillsboro after alleged assault, robbery
On Friday, July 20 at approximately 6:22 p.m. the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of assault on a female in the 100 block of West North Street. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that Ryan P. McBrayer, 28, of Wilmington, had assaulted a 30-year-old Hillsboro woman at her residence. McBrayer than fled on foot northbound in the alleys. Police were given a clothing description and also found that McBrayer had an outstanding warrant.
While patrolling for the McBrayer subject, the Hillsboro Police Department received a report at approximately 7:03 p.m. of a male subject matching the same description as McBrayer running up to a 64-year-old Sabina woman, grabbing her purse from her in the parking lot of Frisch's. The woman attempted to give chase but fell on the pavement, sustaining minor scrapes and a chipped tooth. A Hillsboro Police Officer was in the area at the time of the call and was able to respond with short notice to the scene.
Assistance was then requested from the K9 deputy of the HCSO and was responding to help locate the McBrayer subject. A Hillsboro Police Officer that was providing security at Star Cinemas, then reported observing the McBrayer subject on foot running behind Days Inn on Harry Sauner Road and trying to make entry into the building but couldn't. That officer then gave chase and McBrayer ran into the Cedarwoods Apartment complex on Harry Sauner Road.
[[In-content Ad]]Upon the other officers' arrival, it was found that McBrayer had run into an apartment that did not belong to him an attempt to hide. The officer also ran into the apartment and was able to apprehend McBrayer on the second floor in the hallway without any further incident. All items belonging to the 64-year-old victim were located and returned.
McBrayer has been charged with assault, a misdemeanor of the first degree; burglary, a felony of the fourth degree; possession of criminal tools, a felony of the fifth degree; theft, a felony of the fifth degree; and robbery, a felony of the third degree. It was also confirmed that McBrayer had an outstanding warrant from the Clinton County Sheriff's Office for failure to appear.
McBrayer was transported to the Highland County Justice Center, where he is being held and is to appear in Hillsboro Municipal Court Monday, July 23 at 8 a.m.
