Willis appointed to Scioto County Court of Common Pleas

Jay S. Willis of Portsmouth has been appointed to serve as Judge of the Scioto County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division.

The office of Gov. John Kasich has announced that Willis will assume office effective Feb.  17, 2012, and will serve out the remainder of the unexpired term ending Jan. 1, 2013.  He must run in November 2012 to retain the seat and start service for the full six-year term beginning January 2, 2013.

Willis received a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Capital University and earned his juris doctorate from Capital University Law School. Since 1999, Willis has served as a magistrate for the Scioto County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division.

Willis is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Scioto County Bar Association. Since 1999, he has served as a member of the Ohio Association of Magistrates (OAM) and has been a trustee on the OAM board since 2010.[[In-content Ad]]
