Two Highland County motorcyclists injured in Fayette County crash

Two Highland County motorcyclists were seriously injured Saturday after crashing their bike along Route 35 in Fayette County.

Dale Powell, 67, of New Vienna was riding along U.S. 35 westbound when he attempted to get off the exit ramp onto County Road 435.

Powell reportedly then changed his mind and swerved off the ramp and back onto Route 35. 

A motorcyclist following Powell, Glenn Stoop, Jr. 62, of Hillsboro, struck Powell in the rear, causing Powell to crash. The force threw Powell and his female rider, Anita Powell, 65, from the bike.

MedFlight was called to the scene to transport Dale Powell to Grant Hospital in Columbus.

Anita Powell was transported to Fayette County Memorial Hospital.

U.S. 35 westbound remained closed for nearly an hour while officers investigated.
