Two charged with assault; Cincinnati man had loaded handgun

Two men have been charged with assault and criminal damaging, following an altercation at a Route 73 tavern on Hillsboro's east side.

According to the Hillsboro Police Department at 12:59 a.m. Oct. 26, an officer witnessed Robert Perry IV, 20, of Cincinnati enter a vehicle and assault James R. Captain II, 27, of Hillsboro.

The officer pulled Perry from the vehicle, the HPD stated. At this time, Captain left the vehicle and began assaulting Perry, who was being placed under arrest.

Perry was placed in a patrol car while the investigation was conducted.

A loaded handgun was found in the back of the patrol car where Perry had been placed. Perry was charged with assault, criminal damaging, underage consumption and carrying a concealed weapon.

The investigation determined that Captain also had assaulted an employee of the bar. Captain was charged with two counts of assault and one count of criminal damaging.

During the assault, a vehicle in the parking lot was damaged.

The incident remains under investigation.
