Truck driver in deadly I-71 crash used phony IDs to get citizenship, license
A semi driver accused in a deadly chain-reaction crash in Delaware County, Ohio is now also under investigation for allegedly using a phony identity to fraudulently obtain U.S. citizenship and an Ohio driver’s license, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Investigators said Modou Ngom crashed into stopped traffic on I-71 near Sunbury earlier this year, killing three members of a family and injuring several others.
Troopers reportedly discovered multiple names and dates of birth tied to the man.
Ohio Department of Public Safety Director Andy Wilson said Ngom "entered the United States in the 1990s and subsequently used multiple names and dates of birth to obtain state and federal identification. Evidence from the investigation indicates that, around 2003, using records issued from the federal government, Ngom fraudulently obtained a new Ohio driver’s license, and later a commercial driver’s license in 2007, under an alternate identity and was later naturalized as a U.S. citizen in the mid-2010s under that same alternate identity."
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it has turned information about the alleged identity and documentation fraud over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
