St. Mary Catholic School honors veterans

Students and staff of St. Mary Catholic School in Hillsboro held a special Veterans Day observance Monday, Nov. 11 at the school.

Karen Trout led pupils in singing patriotic songs outside the school prior to a flagpole dedication ceremony by members of the Knights of Columbus Color Corps and Honor Guard.

Those in attendance sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" and recited The Pledge of Allegiance.

Fr. Mike Paraniuk of St. Mary Catholic Church led a prayer on behalf of all veterans.

The names of veterans who are or were parishioners at the church were read by Jerry Piezer and Tom Koehl.

Rodgers Creed Culbreath served as master of ceremonies for the 2013 Veterans Day observances.
