The Southern State Community College Foundation has announced Addison Moran as the recipient of the Dylan Philip Wilson and Nathan Paeltz Memorial Scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year.

A 2026 graduate of Eastern Brown High School, she is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing at Southern State. Moran is passionate about healthcare because it allows her to make a tangible difference in people’s lives, offering comfort, support, and care when it matters most.

The Dylan Philip Wilson and Nathan Paeltz Memorial Scholarship fund was established in 2006 in memory of Dylan Philip Wilson, a 1993 graduate of Georgetown High School, and was modified in 2014 to include Nathan Paeltz, Dylan’s long-time childhood friend.  This fund serves to honor both of these young men, and is designed to serve graduates from Eastern Brown, Ripley Union Lewis Huntington and Georgetown High Schools with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The scholarship criteria and selection are overseen by Dylan and Nathan’s close personal friend, Jon Linkous, long-time partner and Chair of the Southern State Community College Foundation.

“It means a great deal to be able to support Addison as she begins her education at Southern State,” said Linkous. “Knowing that her mom was a classmate of Dylan, Nate, and myself makes this scholarship especially meaningful. We are proud to help Addison pursue her goals and carry on the memory of two friends who meant so much to us.”

Dr. Nicole Roades, President of Southern State, said, “I am continually humbled by the care and thoughtfulness that go into awarding the Dylan Philip Wilson and Nathan Paeltz Scholarship. It is clear that Jon holds the memories of his late friends in the highest regard, and I have every confidence that each recipient is thoughtfully chosen to best honor Dylan and Nathan’s legacy. On behalf of Southern State and the Foundation, I extend my warmest congratulations to Addison.”
