Sgt. Donald E. Barrera receives Distinguished Law Enforcement Community Service Award from Ohio attorney general

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today honored more than two dozen law enforcement professionals and community leaders during the Ohio Attorney General's Law Enforcement Conference in Columbus.   

"These award winners were chosen for their bravery and for their service to their profession," said Attorney General Mike DeWine. "They have all contributed towards protecting Ohio's families, and for that we thank them." 

The honorees include:

• Distinguished Law Enforcement Community Service Award: 
Sergeant Donald E. Barrera, Highland County Sheriff's Office
 
• Distinguished Civilian Leadership Award: 
Danielle Smoot, Cole’s Warriors, Clark County

• Distinguished Law Enforcement Lifetime Achievement Award:  
Chief Rick W. Patterson, Fairfax Police Department

Sergeant Thomas M. Aldrich, Jackson Police Department

• Distinguished Law Enforcement Training Award:  
Deputy David S. Fatheree, Summit County Sheriff's Office

• Mark Losey Distinguished Law Enforcement Service Award:  
Deputy U.S. Marshal Dean G. Michael, U.S. Marshals Service

• Distinguished Law Enforcement Group Achievement Award:  
Career Criminal Unit, Columbus Division of Police

• Distinguished Law Enforcement Group Achievement Award:  
Craigslist Serial Murder Investigation

• Distinguished Law Enforcement Meritorious Service Award:
Officer Jason W. Huston, Franklin Township Police Department

• Distinguished Law Enforcement Valor Award:  
Officer Steven D. Davis, Solon Police Department

• Distinguished Law Enforcement Valor Award:

• Distinguished Law Enforcement Valor Award:  
Officer Gregory V. Ivory, Springfield Police Division

Members of the Ohio Law Enforcement Awards Committee review the award nominations and select each recipient.
