The Highland County Board of Commissioners met Sept. 14 with commissioners Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer present. Commission president Shane Wilkin was in Columbus for a meeting with Help Me Grow and other programs.

Prior to the start of Wednesday’s meeting, Horst explained that a number of businesses have approached the commissioners regarding flu shots for county employees. Horst said the Walgreens pharmacy will visit county offices and offer the shots this year; however, county employees are “free to go anywhere they choose,” Horst said.

“We appreciate everyone’s interest,” Horst said, “But we decided to go with Walgreens this year.”

In other business, commissioners received a permissive sales tax report from Highland County Auditor Bill Fawley.

To date, the county has received $3,979,270.43 in tax revenue for 2011, compared to $3,876,245.60 for the  same period in 2010.

The  permissive sales tax received in September for the month of July was $477,925.99, down slightly from $481,773.18 from last year.

Fawley, Horst, Shaffer and Highland County Treasurer Vickie Warnock met in executive session Wednesday with representatives from the Ohio auditor’s office for a status meeting on the 2010 audit.

Commissioners also passed resolutions for budget modifications to several departments, including: the engineer’s, sheriff’s, clerk of courts, coroner’s and Hi-TEC.[[In-content Ad]]
