Rosenberger reports $1 million secured for Greenfield rail line

Federal and state tax dollars totaling $1 million have been secured for the Greenfield rail line improvements, according to State Rep. Cliff Rosenberger.
Rosenberger, a Clarksville Republican, called The Highland County Press today with news of the announcement and credited Greenfield City Manager Betty Bishop for working diligently on the project.
Bishop had recently reported to the Greenfield Village Council that obtaining funding for the railway was a crucial task this year.
"Betty has worked very hard on this project," Rosenberger said.
The state representative said the funding will be from two government accounts:
• The Ohio Department of Development 629 Account, which makes funds available for public roadway and infrastructure improvements, including engineering and design costs; and,
• The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Program, which provides communities with resources to address community development needs.
"The Greenfield rail line has been my priority since I came into office," Rosenberger said. "We have to pay attention to our infrastructure."
Rosenberger said the project will aid local job retention and creation.
He said the funds could be disbursed early next year.
"Rep. Rosenberger, Peg Beekman and the commissioners worked very hard on this project," Bishop told The Highland County Press. "Peg and Jeremy Shaffer were especially supportive. This is a great Christmas present for Greenfield."
