Romney wins in Ohio, Santorum wins Highland County

Mitt Romney is being declared the unofficial winner in Ohio's Republican presidential primary Tuesday, edging out Rick Santorum. 

 

In Highland County, Santorum was a clear victor Tuesday, with 2,301 votes, to Romney's 1,862 votes, unofficial.

 

Although the race was tight throughout Tuesday's tabulations, CNN, MSNBC and Fox News all report that Romney was the winner in Ohio.

 

In Highland County, the following, unofficial, presidential results were posted: Newt Gingrich, 941 votes; Jon Huntsman, 30 votes; Ron Paul, 481 votes; Rick Perry, 54 votes. 

 

Democratic Presidential incumbent Barack Obama, who was unchallenged on the ballot, received 1,031 votes, unofficially, in Highland County. 

 

CNN reported that Romney won five of the "Super Tuesday" states, including Ohio. Santorum reportedly won three states, while Gingrich won in Georgia.
