Rocky Fork Lake cleanup a monthlong project
Commissioners Shane Wilkin and Tom Horst proclaimed April as "Clean Up, Fix Up and Pick Up Month" at Rocky Fork Lake at the Wednesday board meeting.
Paint Township Trustee Randy Mustard, and lake area residents and Rocky Fork Lake Community Alliance members Margie Brunner, Dan Cowdrey, Bill Dalton, Sally Hinton and Jerry Hinton were present to accept the proclamation.
"We've done this for the last six years and it's been very successful," Mustard said of the annual lake-area cleanup project. "You name it, we've picked it up."
Brunner said volunteers typically collect more than 500 bags of trash and debris from around the lake and state park community.

"You don't have to live in the Rocky Fork Lake area to volunteer," Commissioner Tom Horst noted.
"Everyone is welcomed to help," Brunner said.
"This project is a great example of people working together to improve their community," Cowdrey said.
"We thank you for doing this," Horst said. "Rocky Fork Lake is one of our jewels in Highland County and we have to take care of it."
The Rocky Fork Lake Community Alliance meets on the third Thursday of each month at the Activities Center on North Shore Drive.
