The Rocky Fork Lake fireworks display will continue as scheduled Saturday evening despite Highland County being in a state of emergency.
Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District Chief Bradley George told the Highland County Press Saturday evening that while the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a no-burn order, the Fire Marshal's office of the state of Ohio has not put out a fireworks cancellation order.

George said Ohio law requires a state-certified fire safety inspector to be on location during fireworks displays. The fire district has two such inspectors.
"The fireworks will continue as planned," George said. "The thinking behind it is that people need at least a little bit of distraction and some fun while dealing with these circumstances."
The launch point for the fireworks will be on the eastern lake shore, and the display should be viewable from any Rocky Fork Lake beach or shore. The event is anticipated to start after 10 p.m.
