Republicans hold early leads in all county races

It's been a good night thus far for the Highland County Republican Party.

Republican candidates in all contested county races held significant early leads Tuesday.

• Prosecuting Attorney Anneka Collins had 6,297 votes, to 2,827 for Kimberly McGuire-Haines.

• Recorder candidate Chad McConnaughey led Independent Larry Burns, 6,289-2,684.

• Both incumbent commissioners, Shane Wilkin and Tom Horst, lead their Democratic opponents, Brenda Losey and Randy Mustard.

• In the treasurer's race, incumbent Republican Vickie Warnock has the early lead over Gary Heaton.

• For the 91st House District race, Republican Rep. Cliff Rosenberger has 7,052 votes in Highland County to 4,701 for Peter Pence.

• In the Second Congressional District, Republican Brad Wenstrup leads Democrat William Smith, 7,860 to 3,916.

• For U.S. Senate, Republican Josh Mandel leads Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown in Highland County voting, 7,434 to 4,164.

• President Barack Obama has 3,913 votes with 50 percent of the count, to 7,456 for Republican Mitt Romney.
