Reps. Becker, Adams introduce legislation to reduce election costs

State Representative John Becker (R-Union Township) have released the following statement on House Bill 240, legislation that deals with the repeal of special elections in the months of February and August:
“I went to Columbus to find ways to save the taxpayers’ money and streamline government," Becker said.
"It was by accident that Rep. John Adams and I discovered that we were working on identical bills with the goal of repealing special elections in February and August.
"Special elections are costlier than non-special elections and place an enormous burden on election officials to attract poll workers and volunteers to work these elections.
"Rep. Adams and I decided to team up and work together on a single proposal, and we look forward to working with our colleagues in this effort when House session resumes in the fall.”
House Bill 240 was introduced this week and will soon be assigned to a House committee.
