Patsy Mayo, The Browns bring special gospel concerts to Highland County Fair
Gospel singer and songwriter Patsy Mayo will perform at the 2013 Highland County Fair on Thursday, Sept.5 at 7 p.m. in the Multi-purpose Building.
Mayo, who was born in Columbus, performs Southern Gospel music.
According to her website "With her undeniable work ethic, down-home personality, and God’s anointing spirit, Patsy is taking the next step of her incredible journey in her music ministry to save lives across America. Patsy received an early opportunity to spread the Gospel through song. Her parents had her singing in church by the time she was just 3 years old. Patsy drew her first audience while singing out of the bed of a pickup truck in downtown Columbus.
She spent most of her early life traveling and singing with her parents and siblings known as the Mullins Family. She was immediately embraced into the group with her powerful soprano voice.
Mayo recorded her first CD at the ripe old age of 6! During high school, Patsy traveled and sang with David Marshall, of the Marshall Family. Patsy was taught to play guitar by her brother, Ricky, who has played the guitar and banjo for artists such as Paul Overstreet, the Cumberland Boys, and many other recording artists. Patsy’s younger brother, Terry, travels and plays bluegrass music.
One of the blessings from God that Patsy is thankful for is the gift to write songs. Her mother, Pearl, is an exceptional songwriter as well.
Pearl’s song, "The Lowest Valley," was recorded by the Isaacs and hit the national gospel charts. Patsy and her mother now co-write together. Patsy and her mother wrote all of the songs on Patsy’s latest CD entitled “I Believe,” with the exception of "How Great Thou Art."
Patsy has had the honor of being awarded Female Vocalist of the Year for the state of Ohio, and being nominated for top 10 Female Vocalists of the Year by radio nationwide.

It’s truly a family affair when The Browns hit the stage with their gospel music. The musical stylings of Shelly, Michaela, Adam, and Andrew exude excitement on the stage and offer a life-changing experience to all who hear them. The Browns have been touring across the United States since the group began its full-time ministry ten years ago. The heralded group began on the local and state level and has expanded and grown into a national touring group.
This year The Browns received the prestigious honor of Top 10 Mixed Group of the Year for the second year in a row. “It started out with the Singing News magazine fans voting for the top ten,” Michaela said.
“We had no idea we were up for this ward until we got an e-mail to tell us. We were up with some wonderful groups. This honor is very rewarding coming from the fans and knowing that we’ve touched their hearts or ministered to them in some way.” Previously The Browns had been awarded the Top Horizon Group of the Year for 3 consecutive years.
The group has finished their newest recording at the Sound Kitchen and Daywind Studios in Nashville, with Grammy award winning producer, Bubba Smith. ”A New Day” will be the Browns 10th national CD release. The newest single on the album has just climbed to #25 on the national radio charts. It is written by group member Jessica, and her fiance, Nick Trammell intitled “It’s A God Thing”.
Even when they’re not on stage or on tour, the Browns manage to stay plenty busy on their farm property west of LeMars, Iowa, which has served to become somewhat of haven for the family away from the road. “We have to work a lot, cleaning and washing our bus,” Adam said. “We enjoy life at home. There’s just something about being in the country. I’ve always enjoyed it.” Andrew, the self-proclaimed life of the party, said touring on the road can get a little crazy, but he’s been able to put things into perspective. “I’m thankful for what I’m doing,” he said. “I think it’s a special thing that we do.” To add to the family experience, Shelly’s husband Keith is the chief bus driver and sound technician. “It’s definitely something that would be hard to do if you weren’t called to it,” Shelly said. “Because we know we’re called, it’s been worth it all. God has opened the doors and there are adventures and blessings behind each one.”
From singing over 30 shows at the Americana Theatre in Branson to Dollywood Theme park stages, to singing on over seven Royal Carribean and Carnival cruise ships this award winning family will inspire you with their close-knit family harmony and talent. The Browns love what they do, love each other, and the audiences to whom they sing.
The 2013 Highland County Fair is held Aug. 31-Sept. 7.
