Patrol plans OVI sobriety checkpoint

BATAVIA – The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that troopers will operate an OVI checkpoint to deter and intercept impaired drivers this week.

The county where the checkpoint will take place will be announced the day prior to the checkpoint, and the location of the checkpoint will be announced the morning of the checkpoint.

If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink.

Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.

Operational support for the sobriety checkpoint will be provided by local law enforcement agencies.

If you see an impaired or reckless driver on the road, call #677 to be connected directly to the nearest Ohio State Highway Patrol post. Your call could save a life.

Additional OVI-related enforcement and educational information can be found on the Patrol’s OVI Dashboard | Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The Patrol is seeking driven, service-minded individuals who are ready to make a difference. Whether you’re a natural leader, skilled communicator, or someone passionate about helping others, the Patrol offers opportunities to transform your talents into a meaningful career serving the people of Ohio. Those interested can stop by the checkpoint and talk to a trooper about Patrol careers.

The Patrol also offers a  ride-along program and those interested are encouraged to contact their local OSHP post  to schedule a ride-along with a trooper during their shift.
