Parents charged after 18-month-old dies in overheated bedroom

A Manchester man and woman have been arrested and placed in the Adams County jail after their 18-month-old daughter died in an overheated bedroom.
WXIX reports that authorities believe the baby was left in an overheated room, in a house located on E. 5th Street in Manchester.
Jesika Case, 26, and Jeremy Cox, 26, have been charged with negligent homicide and endangering children and are currently in the Adams County jail.
According to WKRC, "Chief Bowling said Case and Cox admitted to smoking marijuana the night they put [their daughter] to bed. Blood samples were taken from both of them to determine whether other drugs were in their system. More charges could be filed."

WKRC reports that Case put her daughter to bed around 11 p.m. Tuesday night and stated that the room was chilly, so she turned a space heater on high. On Wednesday morning, Case found her daughter unresponsive in her small bedroom, which officials say reached up to 130 degrees. WKRC said that Manchester Police Chief Jeff Bowling stated that the room "absolutely took [investigators'] breath away. It was so hot we could hardly breathe."
WKRC reports that a neighbor called 911, and a postal worker performed CPR on the girl until paramedics arrived.
The 18-month-old died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
According to WKRC, there are two other children in the family, who are now in the custody of their grandparents.
