Paint Township Trustee Randy Mustard announces candidacy for county commissioner

Paint Township Trustee Randy Mustard has announced his candidacy for the Highland County Board of Commissioners.

Mustard, a resident of the Rocky Fork Lake area with his wife, Angela, has been a Paint Township Trustee for 14 years. He has served as the president of the Paint Township Trustees.

In addition to serving as a township trustee, Mustard is on the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District Board for Paint Township, and he is a member of the EMA and Farm Bureau.

Mustard, a Democrat, also owns his own trucking business. He said that he wants to take his experience of serving the people and operating his own business, and use this professional experience toward the benefit of the people of Highland County.

In 2012, Mustard won a contested primary race for the county commission and then ran the closest general election race of any Highland County Democratic candidate, garnering more than 7,100 votes against a well-known Republican incumbent in former county sheriff Tom Horst.

"I think we've made a great improvements in Paint Township over the past decade or more," Mustard told The Highland County Press.

"I've run my own business successfully for more than 20 years and I would like to bring everything that I've done through the township and private business to the commissioners' office."

"I enjoy working with the people in the community," Mustard said this week, in between snow plow runs in Paint Township on Monday.

"If elected, my phone will always be on. If I can't answer a question right off the bat, I will get the answer and get back with you."

Mustard said he would appreciate voters' support, countywide, as he has received many years of support in Paint Township.
