OSHP investigates fatal crash on Kay Road

The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a one-vehicle fatal car crash on Kay Road Wednesday evening.

Sgt. Rob New, of the OSHP, said that the victim's identity is currently unknown.

According to the Post, at approximately 10:05 p.m. a 2003 Chevy Silverado was traveling northeast on Kay Road, near state Route 134. The vehicle went off the left side of the road, struck a tree, overturned and caught on fire.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Highland County Coroner's Office, according to New.

"Conformation of identity is unknown at this time," New said. "We are not certain what caused the crash. We were unable to tell if a seatbelt was in use."

The Highland County Sheriff's Office was also on scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the OSHP.
