Ohio Inspector General investigates Ohio Governor's Office employees

The Ohio Inspector General has issued a report of investigation today reviewing an allegation that members of the Ohio Governor’s Office were involved in political activity while at work for the state of Ohio.

Credible news reports provided the basis for the allegation, and while no complaint was filed, the inspector general chose to initiate the investigation to answer questions surrounding the allegations.

The investigation confirmed several employees of the governor’s office were engaged in circulating, delivering, or filing declarations of candidacy and nominating forms for individuals seeking elected office as members of the Ohio Republican State Central Committee in March 2012.

However, no evidence was found to support the allegation that any of the activity took place while the employees were being paid by the state to be at work.
