Ohio General Assembly honors SSCC's Dr. Sherry Stout

FINCASTLE - In the first of four retirement celebrations for Southern State Community College President Dr. Sherry Stout Friday, the 128th Ohio General Assembly extended its congratulations for her 34 years of service to the college.
State Rep. Danny Bubp of Adams County presented a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Ohio House of Representatives and the full Assembly. The framed certificate was signed by Rep. Bubp, Rep. David Daniels and House Speaker Armond Budish.
"Throughout your 34-year career at Southern State Community College, you have demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing your duties and fulfilling your responsibilities with the utmost professionalism and competence," the certificate read. ..."You have given willingly of your time, energy and abilities far beyond what was required or expected and have earned the respect and admiration of all those with whom you have worked. Although your expertise and guidance will be sorely missed, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you have set an example worthy of emulation."
Dr. Stout thanked her family, friends and professional colleagues for the Nov. 13 afternoon celebration at the college's South Campus in Fincastle.
After the celebration, the college's board of trustees met at South Campus.
"Southern State will always be near and dear to my heart," Dr. Stout told the trustees after she attended her final meeting as college president. "The college is in good hands and the future is very bright for SSCC."
Promising "no tears," Dr. Stout was excused from the meeting when the board entered into an executive session to discuss personnel. Board Chairman Jim Ward thanked Stout for her service and the full board rose for a standing ovation to the outgoing college leader.
There was no decision on a possible successor to Dr. Stout. The board will be meeting with presidential candidates again on Nov. 30.[[In-content Ad]]
