Officers investigate break-ins at local business

On Tuesday, Dec. 4 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a call from an employee at Sherwood Auto and Camper. The employee stated that they had campers that had been broken into and were currently talking with suspects. The employee then stated that she believed one suspect had a gun.
Upon officer arrival, it was found that one suspect, Lance Hatfield, remained on scene, while a juvenile suspect fled on foot. With assistance from the Highland County Sheriff's Office K-9, the juvenile was located in the vicinity. He was taken into custody without incident and was found to not be in possession of a firearm.
Hatfield was charged with criminal damaging and taken to the Highland County Justice Center. The juvenile was released to his parent and was charged with criminal damaging, aggravated menacing and obstruction of official business.[[In-content Ad]]
