Lead Summary

Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 highway maintenance facilities are working this morning to combat snow and ice.

Routes throughout the area are mostly snow covered and slick.

Snowplow operators from Adams, Brown, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties are reporting accumulations of up to three inches of snow, with heavier amounts to the western and northern parts of the district and snow still falling.

Crews will be on duty throughout this winter storm to plow and treat routes on the state highway system; however, ODOT reminds motorists of the need for additional caution when driving during inclement weather.

In addition to reducing their speed and allowing additional travel time, drivers need to maintain a safe following distance behind other vehicles and allow for additional stopping time.
