ODOT releases travel report

Adams County

A resurfacing project on S.R. 32 is under way, with operations at the 0.83-mile marker (just east of the Adams-Brown County line) for bridge repair. Crews will be paving the route between the county line and S.R. 247 at Seaman, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid to late October.

An intersection improvement project on S.R. 73 is under way, and crews will be upgrading the alignment and adding a left-turn lane at the route’s intersection with C.R. 18H (Jaybird Road), between S.R. 32 and the Adams-Scioto County line. Currently, traffic is being maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers, and construction is anticipated to be completed by late summer.

Brown County

Operations for a bridge replacement project on C.R. 21 (White Oak Valley Road) at T.R. 32 (McCall Road) have resumed, and the route is now closed. Traffic is being detoured via U.S. 68 and C.R. 83 (Smoky Row Road), and the scheduled completion date is July 31, 2012.

A guardrail replacement project is under way on S.R. 41. Crews will be replacing guardrail between Aberdeen and S.R. 136 in Adams County, working as weather permits. Traffic will be maintained with the use of flaggers and/or arrow boards.

S.R. 221 is reduced to one lane due to a slip. Traffic is being maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals.

U.S. 52 is reduced to one, 10-foot lane at T.R. 232 (Logan Gap Road), between Ripley and Aberdeen, for a slip repair project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary signals.

Highland County

C.R. 39 (Greenbush Road) is closed at Beltz Road, immediately west of Buford, for a bridge replacement project. The route will be closed for up to 120 days, and while it is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 134, S.R. 286 and U.S. 68.

C.R. 11 (Bridges Road) is closed just south of its junction with S.R. 771 for a bridge replacement project. The closure is scheduled to be in place for up to 90 days, and while the route is closed, traffic will be detoured via S.R. 138 and S.R. 771.

Jackson County

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 93. Crews will be paving the route from the Jackson-Lawrence County line to just north of C.R. 130A (Harmon Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a  minimum of one lane with the use of flaggers. In addition, temporary traffic signals will be in place at the U.S. Rail crossing. The project is scheduled to be completed by late November.

A resurfacing project on U.S. 35, between C.R. 41 (Dixon Run Road) and the Jackson-Gallia County line, has begun. Throughout construction traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction. The project is scheduled to be completed by late November.

A bridge replacement on S.R. 139 is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks, pending final utility work. Crews will be replacing a structure located at the route’s 11.64-mile marker, between T.R. 745 (Ralph Riegel Road) and T.R. 274 (Chestnut Grove Road). The route will be closed for up to 45 days, and while it is closed motorists will be detoured via S.R. 32, S.R. 93 and S.R. 279.

Lawrence County

A bridge repair project on S.R. 217 is scheduled to begin the week of April 30, and the route will be subject to a single-day closure on Wednesday, May 2, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.  The structure is located between the route's junction with T.R. 101 (Yellow Creek Road) and S.R. 378. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 141 and S.R. 378; at other times during the repair project, the route will be open, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers.

A slip repair project on S.R. 378 has been suspended for the winter months, and the route is open to traffic. Crews will return in the spring to complete pavement repairs near T.R. 220 (Trace Creek-Marion Ridge Road), approximately one mile west of the route’s end at S.R. 141. The scheduled completion date for all work is June 30, 2012.

A slip repair project has begun on S.R. 93, and the route will be reduced to one, 9-foot lane at the 14.0-mile marker. The project site is located between the north and south junctions of S.R. 373, north of Pedro, and traffic will be maintained by temporary traffic signals. The project is scheduled to be completed by late July.

A bench cleaning project is under way on U.S. 52 West. Crews will be clearing the ledge and ditch area alongside the route’s westbound lanes between the S.R. 93 interchange at Ironton and T.R. 268 (Crabtree Hollow Road). During most operations, westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane during working hours; eastbound traffic should not be affected by this project.

As part of the U.S. 52 bench cleaning project,  crews will be working in the area of  T.R. 268 (Crabtree Hollow Road) and C.R. 15 (Lick Creek Road), where westbound traffic will be stopped for intermittent periods of time during hours of operation and off-peak travel times. The periods of closure are anticipated to be in 15-minute intervals and not continuous throughout any day. Currently, these operations are scheduled to be in effect continuing through early May as weather permits.

U.S. 52 is subject to daytime lane restrictions between Hanging Rock and the Ashland, Ky., bridges near Coal Grove, for minor maintenance work. Crews will be working between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day, and traffic will be restricted at various locations during working hours. The route will be open to two lanes in each direction when crews are not at work.

Construction for the Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement has begun, with preliminary work being conducted off affected roadways. There should be little to no impact to traffic; however, motorists are advised of equipment entering and exiting the work zone at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky.

Pike County

A bridge replacement/realignment project is under way on T.R. 338 (Gleason Road).  Traffic is being maintained in one lane with the use of signals, and the project is scheduled to be completed by late November.

A slip repair project on C.R. 50 (Watson Road) has been suspended for the winter months, and the route is open to traffic. Crews will return to the route’s 3.16-mile marker, just south of the Ross-Pike County line, to complete pavement repair and finishing work.

A resurfacing project has begun on S.R. 220. Crews will be paving the route between the route’s junction with S.R. 772 and the Waverly corporation limit, and traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers. The project is anticipated to be completed by late November.

As part of the S.R. 220 relocation, S.R. 32 will be reduced to one lane in each direction while crews work to eliminate the at-grade crossover from C.R. 66 (Germany Road) to the former section of S.R. 220. All S.R. 220 traffic is being routed via the relocated section of roadway (formerly Schuster Road), and traffic to and from C.R. 66 and S.R. 32 will be via right-in/right-out turns only. Motorists are advised of the changes in traffic patterns, and they are reminded to exercise additional caution when traveling through the work zone. The scheduled completion date for all work is July 9, 2012.

Ross County

U.S. 50 is reduced to one lane between C.R. 207 (Vigo Road) and T.R. 219 (Dixon Mill Road) for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 12-foot lane with temporary traffic signals, and the scheduled completion date is September 30, 2012.

A bridge replacement project on T.R. 523 (Hess Lane) is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. Crews will be replacing a bridge near the end of Hess Lane, which is located near the Jackson County line.  Once construction begins, traffic will be maintained in one lane.

A resurfacing project is scheduled to begin Monday, April 30, on U.S. 23 between Three Locks Road and the Scioto River bridge near the U.S. 35 bypass at Chillicothe. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 12-foot lane in each direction, and the project is anticipated to be completed by late November.

Scioto County

A slide repair project is under way at the 0.14-mile marker on S.R. 139 in New Boston, and the route is closed to traffic. The project site is located between the route’s junction with U.S. 52 and Pine Street, and while the route is closed, traffic will be detoured via S.R. 335 and U.S. 52. The closure is scheduled to be in effect through early September; during the remainder of construction following this, traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The anticipated completion for all work is late November.

S.R. 852 South is now open to traffic following an emergency bridge repair project.  Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic. All work is anticipated to be completed by April 30, weather permitting.
