The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) is proud to recognize the Roger and Janet Terrell Achor family farm in Clinton County as a bicentennial farm, honoring 200 years of family ownership and agricultural stewardship. The designation welcomes the farm into ODA's Historic Family Farms Program, which honors farms that have remained in the same family for at least 100 years.

ODA, led by Rob Hamilton from the Division of Soil & Water, joined Clinton Soil & Water Conservation District in mid-October to celebrate the farm family and their contributions to their community and our state.

The Terrell Achor farm joins a distinguished group of Ohio farms whose histories are deeply intertwined with the state's agricultural heritage. Through changing markets, evolving technology, and generations of family members, the farm has remained under the care of the same family for two centuries.

ODA's Historic Family Farms Program has nearly 2,400 members, with fewer than 200 of those being bicentennial farms.

Family farms are the foundation of Ohio agriculture. Through the Historic Family Farms Program, the department works to preserve the stories of Ohio families whose dedication to the land has helped shape the state's rural communities and agricultural economy.

As Ohio celebrates its rich agricultural heritage, farms like the Terrell Achor farm serve as a reminder of the enduring connection between family, land, and community. The farm's bicentennial designation honors not only the accomplishments of previous generations, but also the stewardship that will guide future generations of Ohio farmers.
