Multiple weather advisories in effect

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather advisory and a cold weather advisory for Highland and surrounding counties.

Snow is expected Friday, Jan. 9 with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. As temperatures remain below freezing, pavement surfaces will become slick. The snow will affect the Friday afternoon and evening commute.

• A cold weather advisory is in effect from midnight Jan. 8 until 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 5 below to 12 below zero
  expected.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Indiana, northeast
  and northern Kentucky, and central, south central, southwest, and
  west central Ohio.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 9 AM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 5 to 12 below zero could
  result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Tonight – Isolated snow showers before 11 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -2. Wind chill values as low as -12. 

Thursday – Sunny, with a high near 21. Wind chill values as low as -12. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Thursday Night – Increasing clouds, with a low around 1. Calm wind.

Friday – Snow after 1 pm. High near 28. Wind chill values as low as zero. South wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Friday Night – Snow, mainly before 1am. Low around 22. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Saturday – A slight chance of snow before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 27. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10.

Sunday – Partly sunny, with a high near 29.

Sunday Night – A chance of snow after 1 am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday – A chance of snow before 1 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9.

Tuesday – Partly sunny, with a high near 18.

Tuesday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 2.

Wednesday – Partly sunny, with a high near 21.
