Mikkelsen withdraws from commissioners race

Hillsboro resident Terry Mikkelsen has withdrawn from the race for the Highland County County Board of Commissioners. 
Mikkelsen, a Republican, told The Highland County Press Wednesday morning that he is withdrawing for "personal reasons," and that he made it official Wednesday morning at the Highland County Board of Elections. 
He would have faced incumbent Tom Horst in the primary election, currently scheduled for March. Horst will now face the winner of the primary race between Democrats Josh Patton and Randy Mustard. 
Mikkelsen ran in the race for Hillsboro mayor this year, losing in the May primary. Mikkelsen had said that he wants to contribute to the community and that Highland County is ready for new leadership. 
In the other race for the board of commissioners, incumbent Republican Shane Wilkin will face Steve Cowdrey in the primary, and that winner of that race will face Greenfield Democrat Brenda Losey.
