Meth lab discovered during K-9 training

On Tuesday, Aug. 21 at approximately 9:08 a.m., an officer went to 147 W. North St. attempting to locate a female on an outstanding warrant. The officer was being assisted by the Hillsboro Police Department K-9 and Greenfield Police Department K-9, who were on a training day. While at the residence, Ernie Haskill fled from the property and was apprehended by the Greenfield officer. Haskill was arrested on two outstanding warrants.

Information from this incident led a Hillsboro officer to respond to 764 North West St., looking for the female. Upon arrival, the officer observed the front and rear doors standing open and a strong odor of ether.[[In-content Ad]]The officer made contact with a female and a male exiting the rear of the house, and another male moving around in plain view in the house. At one point, the female re-entered the house and fled out the front door before back-up assistance arrived. A meth lab and various drug and paraphernalia items were located on the property. Items are being submitted to the state crime lab, and charges are pending.

One of the males at the residence, Anthony Wallace, was arrested on an active warrant from the Highland County Sheriff Department, and a deputy responded to the scene and transported Wallace to the Justice Center.
