Mayor considers removal of traffic lights on West Main Street

Hillsboro Mayor Drew Hastings said today he is considering the removal of the traffic lights on West Main Street (U.S. 50) at the public library, "in an ongoing effort to streamline Hillsboro’s traffic congestion."

According to a news release from the mayor's office, the traffic lights would be replaced by stop signs on Willettsville Pike and Oak Street or with yellow flashing caution lights on Main Street and red flashing stop lights on Willettsville Pike and Oak Street.

"The loss of the high school at that location warrants a fresh look at the necessity for the traffic lights," the mayor said. "This change would only occur if the citizenry weighs in and feels this would be a benefit."
