Max Armstrong to headline 2nd 'Agriculture Is Everyone's Business' event

The Highland County Chamber is pleased to announce the "Agriculture is Everyone's Business" event is set for Friday, Jan. 17 at Southern State Community College's Patriot Center in Hillsboro.
The event will feature keynote speaker Max Armstrong of "This Week in AgriBusiness," Ohio Director of Agriculture David Daniels and a miniature farm display by Jim Gorman, member of the local Southwestern Ohio Farm Toy Collector Club.
The event begins with breakfast at 8 a.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at TheHighlandChamber.com or at The Highland County Chamber office, at 110 Danville Pike, Hillsboro, inside the South Central Power office. A limited number of tickets are available, so guests are encouraged to buy their tickets as soon as possible.
"Due to the overwhelming success of last year's event, where over 350 people attended, we are happy to make 425 tickets available and easily accessible for purchase on our new website this year," Highland County Chamber President Melissa Elmore said. "We're also very pleased to have back every single sponsor that we had last year and a few new ones. And of course, our breakfast wouldn't be possible without the generous assistance of the Highland County Cattlemens Association."
Max Armstrong is one of the most widely recognized and highly regarded agriculture journalists in America. His broadcasts have been seen and heard by millions of farmers and consumers for nearly 30 years. From studios in Chicago, Armstrong is heard daily with his agriculture and business news broadcasts on legendary radio powerhouse WGN.
Armstrong's Tribune Radio Network program "Farming America" is carried on a network of approximately 165 radio stations reaching every region of the country. David Daniels was formally appointed Ohio Agriculture Director by Governor John Kasich on Feb. 15, 2012. He is a native of Greenfield, where he was born and raised, and where he and his father managed Daniels Brothers farm.

Following four successful terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, Daniels was elected to the Ohio Senate in 2010 to serve the families of the 17th Ohio Senate District, which includes Clinton, Fayette, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Pike, Ross, Vinton and portions of Lawrence and Pickaway counties. Prior to being elected to the Ohio General Assembly, he served four years on the Greenfield City Council and eight as mayor. He also served as a Highland County Commissioner for six years.
Jim Gorman, a lifelong resident of Highland county, has become nationally renowned for his building of scratch-built toy farm equipment. Gorman has won scratch-built model competitions at the National Farm Toy show located in Dyersville, Iowa in 2004 and 2007, as well as competitions at the Gateway Toy Show of St. Louis, Missouri in 2010 and 2011. Most recently, he took second place for his farm display at the National Farm Toy show in November 2013. Gorman has been featured in the international monthly Toy Farmer Magazine and also in Episode Two of online Farm Toy TV.
A 1999 model of a McCormick Farmer Super M Farmall pedal tractor will be auctioned off during the event, donated by Steve Thompson of Thompson Funeral Homes and his wife, Susan Davis of Davis Law Office, as will a John Deere 7020 four-wheel-drive pedal tractor, donated by Five Points Implement Co.
