Lynchburg-Clay FFA Chapter excels in Parliamentary Procedure contest

If there are any students who know the true meaning of “calling for the division of the house,” it would be the Lynchburg-Clay FFA team who participated in the Sub-district Parliamentary Procedure contest at Western Brown High School.

The officers practiced nearly every morning before school preparing themselves for the contest. They learned the proper ways to conduct a business meeting by moving motions and debating them.

Upon arriving to the sub-district contest, it was evident that all their practice had not gone to waste.

Emma Setty, Kayla Campbell, Julie Arnett, Trenton McKee, Aaron Chaney, Heather Thomas, Kirsten Banks, Bethany Myers and Claire Magie were the students that put forth the effort and time to be a first-year Parliamentary Procedure team.

They prepared for this event over several weeks, and with confidence, entered the contest ready to amaze. They presented their debates in front of a panel of five judges and participated in the multiple choice test that was provided.

With hopes of doing well, the members waited patiently to find out their placement and whether they would be moving on.

Later that night, each student’s question was answered on where they placed in the contest. Come to find out that the Lynchburg-Clay Parliamentary Procedure team was presented first place in the contest and would advance on to Districts.

More practices would come, but this time the students had the District contest to look forward to. It just goes to show that hard work and determination pays off in the end.
