Longtime Hillsboro businessman Homer Webster dies at 86

Hillsboro business icon Homer M. Webster passed away Monday, Jan. 25 at The Laurels. He was 86.
Mr. Webster owned and operated Webster Shoe Repair on South High Street in Hillsboro for many years.
He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. He served an apprenticeship with
the Shaw Shoe Repair in Hillsboro to become a shoe cobbler.
After graduation, Mr. Webster entered the U.S. Navy and served his country during World War II. After returning home from the service, he went back to work for Lee Shaw in the shoe repair business. Upon Mr. Shaw’s death, Mr. Webster bought the business from the Shaw family and it became the Webster Shoe Repair.
Mr. Webster is survived by his wife, Betty (Juillerat) Webster, and two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Barbara Webster of Hillsboro, and Don and Sue Webster of Greenfield.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 29 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
