Karnes named 2013 Highland County Junior Fair Queen

The 2013 Highland County Junior Fair Queen Contest was held Saturday, Aug. 31 in the Multi-Purpose Building.
The candidates in this year's event included: Daleina Cowman, Courtney Cummings, Tara Karnes, Brittany Luman and Cheyanne Miller.
Also in attendance was the 2012 Junior Fair Queen, Courtney Michael.
Courtney is currently a senior at Ohio State, majoring in Ag Communications. Upon graduation, Courtney plans to stay at OSU and receive her master's in Extension Education. Her longterm goal is to become an OSU Extension Office / 4-H Educator.
The judges for this year's contest included: Lowes manager Roger Bowlby, Special Needs teacher Anita Fisher and a professor from UC, Loxie Kistler.
The candidates were judged on poise and conduct, application and achievement, personal interviews with the judges and oral presentation.
After a lengthy deliberation, Tara Karnes was announced as this year's Highland County Junior Fair Queen.`[[In-content Ad]]Tara is the daughter of Steven and Patty Karnes of Greenfield.
She attends McClain High School and represents the Highland County Junior Leaders Club.
Tara is active in her 4-H Club and FFA Chapter by holding various offices and leadership roles. Her hobbies include basketball, track, reading and farming.
After high school, she plans on attending college and intends on majoring in either accounting or the medical field.
