Karaoke/spaghetti dinner, dance sponsored by local group 'Just Us Making Progress' at Hills and Dales Training Center

The Highland County J.U.M.P. (Just Us Making Progress) group recently held a karaoke/spaghetti dinner and dance to help raise funds for camp. The event was held at Hills and Dales Training Center.
J.U.M.P. is a large local group of adults with disabilities who work together promoting self-advocacy and helping their community. Each year, the
group attends a special adult camp for individuals with disabilities, Camp
Itawa, held at Fort Hill Youth Camp.
The evening event was enjoyed by individuals with disabilities not only from
Highland County, but also from Clinton County and Fayette County. More than
80 people attended the event, which was emceed by DG Brad Mastin from
Washington Court House.
During the year leading up to Camp Itawa, the group holds fundraisers to
help pay the cost of the four-day camp. Everything at the camp is handicapped accessible and includes crafts, naturalist tours, recreation and a special field and game day. Each night, the group sits around a bonfire, and also enjoys nightly outdoor movies and a special dance.

J.U.M.P. also sponsors the spring bazaar, bake sales, the Jingle Bells Bazaar, outdoor movies and raffles to raise money for the camp. This year, the Highland County Eagle Riders held a poker run and made a generous donation to the group which will help pay the way for several campers.
Camp Itawa will be held Sept. 20-23. As many as 50 adults with disabilities
will be attending the camp.
