Jacob Branham graduates from USMC basic training
Private Jacob A. Branham, 19, of Greenfield, graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. on March 15.
Pvt. Branham successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD Parris Island as one of 68 recruits in Training Platoon 1017.
While in recruit training Pvt. Branham achieved the following: platoon guide, fireteam leader, and shot Expert Marksman on the firing range.

Following 10 days leave after boot camp, Pvt. Branham reported to the U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Training Battalion at Camp Geiger, N.C. for one month of Marine Combat Training. While there, he learned basic combat skills, weapons training, navigation, and field exercises. He graduated from MCT on April 23.
Pvt. Branham has a primary Military Occupational Specialty of Crash, Fire, Rescue and is currently attending MOS school at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas.
He is training at the Department of Defense, Louis F. Garland Fire Academy. He will complete 15 weeks of training and then be stationed at his permanent duty station, which is yet to be determined.
Pvt. Branham states that he plans to make his Marine Corps service a career and looks forward to serving his country.
Pvt. Branham graduated from McClain High School in Greenfield in 2012 with a grade-point average of 3.6. He is the son of Mark and Audra Branham of Greenfield and Jack and Deidra Carr of Lancaster. He has two sisters, Cailey Branham and Cierra Bolender, and one brother, Zachary O'Connor.
