Inmates escape from Highland County jail

On Nov. 12 at approximately 6:03 p.m., two inmate workers assigned to the kitchen detail, fled the jail while taking trash to the dumpster. Both inmates ran from the area on foot.
 
Robert Wayne Gibson was being held on a probation violation. His original charge was misdemeanor purchasing of Sudafed in excess to the legal limit.

Gerald Lee Fletcher was being held for failure to appear for court. His original charge was misdemeanor theft.
 
At approximately 7:45 p.m., the Highland County Sheriff's Office investigated a lead in the 7000 block of Selph Road. At that time, Robert Gibson was located and taken into custody. Escape charges are pending. 
 
Highland County Jail Administrator Chris Lengefeld said that law enforcement is actively searching leads on Mr. Fletcher's whereabouts and will provide updates as information unfolds. Check back to www.highlandcountypress.com for more information.
