Inaugural HDH Foundation golf outing held at Hillsboro Elks

Nearly 100 area golfers took part in the inaugural Highland District Hospital Foundation Golf Outing held at the Hillsboro Elks on Saturday.
 
A total of 10 teams teed off bright and early at 7:30 a.m., and 13 more hit the links after lunch at 1 p.m.

When the final carts returned to the clubhouse and all the scores were tallied, the team of Mike Nartker, Scott Leggett, Joe Shelton and Rick Shelton won the event with a score of 15-under 57. The team recorded two eagles, one on the first hole and another on No. 13 to win by a single stroke.
 
“It’s exciting to have a foundation outing and get community members together to golf on a beautiful day like today,” said HDH CEO Jim Baer, who participated in the event.
 
Funds raised at the inaugural tournament will go toward the purchase of equipment at the hospital.
 
“I was very pleased with how things went today,” HDH Foundation Director Cathy Jones said. “We’ve had wonderful community support, and I really appreciate all the volunteers, many of whom were here at 6 a.m.”
 
Prizes were awarded to Holly Pence for longest drive, Leggett for longest putt, and Randy Roush for closest to the pin.
 

[[In-content Ad]]The Highland District Hospital Foundation was formed to build a bridge between the community and the hospital. Its role is to encourage community involvement in the hospital's future through financial support and to manage that support to the maximum benefit of the hospital and the people using its service.
 
Committee members who were involved in spearheading the golf tournament included: Vicki Rhude, Susan Davis Thompson, Larry Burns, Brian Mycroft, Todd Heskett, Chad Wilson, Neil Miller and Cathy Jones.
 
“We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout and the weather was absolutely beautiful,” Rhude said. “The committee did a great job and so many sponsors stepped up to help a good cause.”
