Humane Society launches website

The Highland County Humane Society has announced the launching of their first ever and official website, www.highlandhumane.com, which is set to go live Dec. 1.

The website will be an interactive tool to the community of animal lovers, who wish to keep themselves up to date with the shelter's daily operation. There are web pages that contain information on humane education, upcoming events and animals available for adoption. It also informs visitors of how they can become a member, volunteer, reasons to spay and neuter your pet and lots more.

"One of the important and main features of the website will allow visitors to now have the option to report animal cruelty online. People can report an act of animal cruelty right from their home computer by filling out an online form and submitting it, which will then go straight to my desk or phone," said Brad Adams, animal cruelty investigator and the webmaster of the site.

"Visitors can make donations, not only by mailing them or dropping it off at the shelter, but now they can make a rapid donation online using their credit/debit card or PayPal," Adams said.

"I believe the web is the top way of today's advertising and marketing and will definitely bring more awareness and education to the citizens of what services our organization provide. I'm glad we are taking advantage of this useful tool."

Shelter Director Melonie Dodson agrees.

"I think having this website will benefit the community by making more people aware of our organization and what its all about. There are a lot of people who may not know who we are or what we do. I also think its a wonderful idea to let folks report animal cruelty online. More people may be more willing to report animal cruelty online, because they may feel they can be more anonymous by reporting it this way."
