The Hillsboro Police Department and the Highland County Sheriff's Office were called to investigate suspicious activity at the Paragon Inn on West Main Street in Hillsboro Saturday, Nov. 26.

According to the HPD, its K-9 unit was alerted to a vehicle in the motel parking lot. The vehicle's owner was located in a motel room. When the owner of the car opened her door, the HPD said, there was a "strong chemical odor."

Two adults and one juvenile were removed from the room.

"A permission to search was granted for the car and motel room," the HPD said. "A large amount of scheduled pills, bagged white powder, digital scales, identifications of other people, and other paraphernalia were found."

The HPD said a report will be forwarded to the Highland County prosecutor for possible presentation to a grand jury.

The case remains under investigation and there were no arrests mentioned in the HPD report.[[In-content Ad]]
