HPD arrests alleged shoplifter

The Hillsboro Police Department was dispatched to Wal-Mart at approximately 11:07 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.

According to the HPD, the store's "asset protection" personnel was getting ready to stop an alleged shoplifter.

Prior to the HPD's arrival, the suspect fled the store. Store personnel lost sight of him in the Kroger parking lot on Harry Sauner Road, the HPD reported.

Officers were given a description of the suspect. One officer entered the Kroger store and another patrolled the parking area.

A store customer advised that a male matching the description had entered a car in the parking lot.

Jason R. Calhoun, 29, of Greenfield was found changing clothes in the back seat of the car. The stolen merchandise was located in the car.

Calhoun was arrested on an outstanding warrant for criminal damaging and also for the theft at Wal-Mart.
