HPD apprehends escapee from Ross County youth center

The Hillsboro Police Department apprehended an escapee from a Ross County juvenile facility on Thanksgiving day. At approximately 7:50 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, the HPD received a LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System) report that two juveniles had escaped from the youth facility near Bainbridge.

The Ross County Sheriff's Office informed the HPD that one of the juveniles, a 17-year-old male, had received a ride from an unsuspecting motorist.

The HPD located the teen near High Street and North Street in Hillsboro. He was still wearing his detention clothing and was taken into custody without incident.

The juvenile was returned to Ross County.

The juveniles had escaped from the Lighthouse Youth Center – Paint Creek. A spokesperson from the center said both juveniles are in the custody of the Ross County Sheriff's Office.
