On Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2010, the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of an unruly child at FRS Connections.
At 3:46 p.m., a crash with reported injuries occurred in the 300 block of North High Street. A 2009 Toyota operated by Derek Stump, 46, of Hillsboro was stopped in traffic. A 2003 Mercury operated by Susan Bennett of Hillsboro was unable to stop in time, striking the rear of the Stump vehicle. Stump was transported to Highland District Hospital by the Hillsboro Life Squad. There was non-functional damage to both vehicles. Bennett was cited for failing to maintain an assured clear distance ahead (ACDA).
At 6:29 p.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred on North West Street at Pea Ridge Road. A 1991 Chevrolet operated by James Brodess, 69, of Hillsboro attempted to turn left from Pea Ridge Road onto North West Street and struck a westbound 2007 Pontiac operated by Charles Brock, 20, of Hillsboro. There were no reported injuries. There was non-functional damage to both vehicles. Brodess was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
On Thursday, Oct. 8 at 4:30 p.m., Russell Roland of Hillsboro reported the theft of items from his residence. Upon investigation, it was found that Joshua Roland, 27, of Hillsboro had taken the items. He was charged with one count of theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree. The items were recovered.
On Friday, Oct. 8 at 10:12 a.m., it was reported that a sweatshirt had been taken from the Hillsboro Middle School belonging to Elizabeth Buchanan of Hillsboro.
On Saturday, Oct. 9 at 5:31 p.m., Willard Parr of 209 Hillsboro reported that his 2008 Buick automobile had been damaged while parked in front of his residence.
On Sunday, Oct. 10 at 8:44 p.m., a single vehicle crash occurred on North West Street north of Pea Ridge Road. Upon investigation, it was determined that April Storms, 27, of Hillsboro was southbound on North West Street when a deer ran into the path of her 1999 Dodge. Storms was unable to stop in time and struck the deer. Storms was not injured. Her vehicle sustained functional damage.
